Apple Tree Dice Roll Game

So, I found these cute erasers last summer and I've wanted to make a game to use them in ever since.

So, here is the game that I came up with:
It's a roll the dice and cover the correct number game.  It will be perfect for the beginning of school.  For my kindergarten students, the apples only go up to 6 so they can practice dot patterns and number recognition.  For my first grade students, I made trees that have apples that go up to 12, so that they can use 2 dice to practice addition skills along with dot patterns and number recognition.
I can't wait to see it in action!
You can download 12 apple tree cards at my TPT shop here for just $1.

Treasure Maps for the Letter X

In preschool last week, we made treasure maps for the letter X.  We used brown paper and drew the outline of an island.  Then, we colored the water and some of the kids even drew pirate ships in the water.  Next, we added details to the island, like rivers, trees, mountains, etc.  When we were all done, we crumpled the paper up to make it look like an old treasure map.  The kids loved it!

Here's a picture of the map that I colored, so that you can see the crumpled effect!

Frog Theme for the New School Year and Catching Up

Well, I have taken a whole year off of blogging due to my very busy schedule.  I would like to put up some more regular posts, but we'll see if I have time.  I am finishing off another year of summer preschool!  I only have two weeks left.  Then, it's a couple weeks off and school starts again!
I am really looking forward to teaching kindergarten and first grade again this year.  I already have 21 students signed up.  We remodeled my classroom this summer and now it has doubled in size!  And, for the first time ever, I will have a Teacher's Aide!  So, there's a lot to look forward to!
This year my theme is frogs and ponds.  Here's a sneak peek at one of our math learning centers.  I took the idea from www.teachingheart.net.  The first page is for first grade to practice addition.  The second page is for kindergarten to practice number recognition and dot patterns.
