I have decided to try something new this year- take home book bags for kindergarten.
I send the bags home for a week and they must be returned on the following Monday.
Each bag contains an inventory sheet, an eyeball stick (to point to the words), a weekly word list, a sheet of stickers (to place on words they read correctly from the word list), phonics flashcards, phonics books, a homemade book about the class, and a couple books (one or two they can read themselves, and one or two a parent can read to them).
I am excited to see how well they work!

Hi there! Thank you for commenting on my blog! I love that you are trying book bags this year. It sure helps to build their reading skills when they have "just right books" to practice.
