Write the Room

Now that my classroom is bigger (TWO TIMES BIGGER!!) I am excited to try out more learning centers.
Last year my room was so cramped, that there wasn't a lot of room to move around. But, this year, my classroom is a great size for 19 students! One of the learning centers that I am the most excited about adding is WRITE THE ROOM. I bought cute little clipboards at Walmart the other day that will hang just right on my hooks. I will have the students use the clipboards and worksheets (that you can download for FREE by clicking on the picture) to walk around the room and write down words that are interesting to them. I have on display all of their classmates names, a word wall, and some environmental print posters that will work great for this activity.

The Horse in Harry's Room

I use the Bob Jones Press curriculum for all of my kindergarten and first grade classes.  The first grade reading curriculum is made up of five different readers with different stories in them.  The first reader was easy, so my students have already breezed through it in the first four weeks.  I am supplementing the curriculum with Syd Hoff and Peggy Parish books that I borrowed from the library and self-designed worksheet.  Here is the worksheet that my first graders will do on Monday for The Horse in Harry's Room by Syd Hoff.
