Count the Ornaments Christmas Number Game

I just finished making a fun Christmas number game.  There are two different ways to play. 

The first way is to shuffle the ornament and word cards and place them face down in a stack.  Students take turns flipping the top card over and correctly counting the ornaments or following the directions on the word cards. 

The second way to play is to place all of the ornament and number cards face down on a table and take turns trying to make a match in a memory game.

I think that this will be a great addition to my Christmas learning centers.  I am also excited that it meets kindergarten common core standards.

Christmas Learning Centers

I scored some cute items from the dollar spot at Target this weekend!

It made me so excited that I got out my winter learning activity box early!
Here are some of the learning centers that I will be getting ready over Thanksgiving Break.

These cookie cutters will be used in my art center as stencils.

 These stamps will be used in my writing center to make cards and to increase fine motor skills.

 This is a class favorite CVC game.  I downloaded it from Kelly's Kindergarten last year.

 This will go in my math centers with some pom-poms.  I will either use it with a spinner or have the kids practice putting the pom-poms on the presents in numerical order.

 I scored these bags from the Target dollar spot last year.  They are perfect to put learning centers inside.

Finger Paint and Silly Putty

 Have you ever made silly putty with your class?  It is very easy and fun to make.  Just mix two bottle of glue with your favorite color paint.  Fill up an empty bottle of glue with liquid starch.  Mix together.  Add some Lysol to keep the mixture from being too sticky.

Write the Room

Now that my classroom is bigger (TWO TIMES BIGGER!!) I am excited to try out more learning centers.
Last year my room was so cramped, that there wasn't a lot of room to move around. But, this year, my classroom is a great size for 19 students! One of the learning centers that I am the most excited about adding is WRITE THE ROOM. I bought cute little clipboards at Walmart the other day that will hang just right on my hooks. I will have the students use the clipboards and worksheets (that you can download for FREE by clicking on the picture) to walk around the room and write down words that are interesting to them. I have on display all of their classmates names, a word wall, and some environmental print posters that will work great for this activity.

Fun Friday!

The students had to take the sticky notes with times written on them and make the clocks say the right time.

The students take an addition sheet, bear counters and a black and orange color mat to a spot.  The student look at the first number in the problem and put that many bears on the black side of the mat.  Then they look at the second number in the problem and put that many bears on the orange side of the mat.  Then, they count how many bears there are altogether and write the total in the answer box.  For some students, I will use an orange marker and a black marker to color code their addition paper.

I am thinking of making this a seasonal activity by changing the mat colors and using seasonal counters.

Roll 1, 2, 3, or 4 die (depending on what level you are on), write the total in the box and then count on using the acorns.
